Employees’ State Insurance Corporation is a statutory body constituted under an Act of Parliament (ESI Act, 1948) and works under the administrative control of Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. Employees’ State Insurance Corporation proposes to recruit the teaching faculty positions in 02 ESI Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science & Research located at Mumbai on direct recruitment basis. For GENERAL DISCIPLINES:
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Essential for Medical Candidates:
(i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of
the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational
qualification included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions
stipulated in Section 13 (3) of the Act).
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Essential for Medical Candidates:
(i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of
the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational
qualification included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions
stipulated in Section 13 (3) of the Act).
(ii) A postgraduate qualification e.g. MD/MS or a recognised qualification equivalent thereto
in the respective subject/ discipline.
Essential for Non Medical Candidates:
(i) A Postgraduate qualification i.e. Medical Masters Degree in the concerned subject/ allied
discipline.
(ii) A doctorate degree of a recognised University in the concerned subject / allied discipline.
Note: The respective subject / allied discipline should be as in the Table-I of schedule 1 of
the MCI-“Minimum Qualifications for teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998”).
Experience:
Essential for Medical candidates and Non-Medical Candidates.
(ii) Six years of teaching and / or research experience in recognised medical college /institution, in the concerned speciality / subject after obtaining the qualifying degree of
A. M.D. / M.S. or qualification equivalent thereto for Medical candidates.
B. Doctorate degree in subject / allied discipline for Nom-Medical candidates.
OUT OF the above experience of 06 years
a. Five years teaching experience shall be as Lecturer / Assistant Professor in a recognized
Medical College in the concerned speciality. ***
OR
b. Four years teaching experience shall be as Assistant Professor in a recognized medical
college in the concerned speciality with minimum of two research publications in
indexed / national journals provided that these research publications are published /
accepted for publication in the Journals by the National Associations / Societies of the
respective specialties as the First Author. Further provided that the requirement of 2
research publications for promotion to the post of Associate Professor should be fulfilled
with 2 research publications must be published during the tenure of the Assistant
Professor.
Note 1: Qualifications relaxable at the discretion of competent authority in case of candidates
otherwise well qualified.
Note 2: The qualifications regarding experience is / are relaxable at the discretion of the
competent authority in case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes or scheduled tribes. If
at any state of selection, the Competent Authority is of the opinion that sufficient number of
candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be
available to fill of the vacancies reserved for them.
***Note 3: Further provided that for the transitory period of 5 years w.e.f. 24th July, 2009,
the appointment / promotion to the post of Associate Professor can be made by the institutes
in accordance with the MCI- “Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions
Regulations, 1998” as prevailing before notification of MCI-“Minimum Qualifications for
Teachers in Medical Institutions (Amendment) Regulations, 2009”.
Note4 : The experience should be recognized by the MCI or the statutory body concerned
with the system of medicine as valid teaching experience for teaching posts and certificate
thereof or any other valid proof in support thereof should be submitted and a certificate to
this effect is to be submitted.
Note 5: Teaching experience in any other post like the post of General Duty Medical Officer
shall not be considered for eligibility purpose for recruitment to teaching posts.
For SUPER SPECIALTY DISCIPLINES:
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
(i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-
II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council, Act, 1956. Holders of
educations qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil
the conditions stipulated in section 13 (3) of the Act.
(ii) M.Ch. for Surgical Super Specialities and D.M. for Medical Super Specialities (2 years
or 3 years or 5 years recognised course) or qualification recognized equivalent
thereto in the subject / speciality. (as in the Table-II of Schedule I of the, MCI-
“Minimum Qualification for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998”)
EXPERIENCE:
Four years of teaching and / or research experience in recognized Institution / medical
college in the subject of speciality, after obtaining the degree of M.Ch./ D.M.(2 years or 5 years
course recognized after MBBS) or Three years instead of Four for the candidates possessing 3
years recognized degree of D.M. / M.Ch. in the respective discipline / subject or recognized
qualification equivalent thereto; OUT OF WHICH
a. Two years teaching experience shall be as Lecturer / Assistant Professor, in a
recognized medical college in the concerned specialty. ***
OR
b. Two years teaching experience shall be as Assistant Professor, in a recognized
medical college in the concerned speciality with minimum of two research
publications in indexed / national journals provided that these research publications
are published / accepted for publication in the Journals by the National Associations /
Societies of the respective specialities as the First Author. Further provided that the
requirement of 2 research publications for promotion to the post of Associate
