DIRECT RECRUITMENT TO THE CADRE OF TIME SCALE DRIVERS IN MAIL MOTOR
SERIVICE, BANGALORE
Applications are invited from the eligible persons with valid driving license to drive light and
heavy Motor vehicles for the vacancies of Time Scale Drivers in the office of Manager, Mail
Motor Service, No. 4, Basaveshwara Road, Vasanth Nagar Bangalore-560052 in accordance with
the Recruitment Rules 1983.
Total Vaccancy: 09
Note:
1. Candidates selected against categories ,will be adjusted in their respective community
against the vacancies earmarked in UR,SC,ST and OBC.
2. The vacancies notified are likely to vary /change without any prior intimation.
3. The Department has right to cancel the recruitment process OR modify the selection
process with the reasons recorded in writing at any stage.
4. Posts not reserved for PH persons
2. Scale of Pay : Rs. 5200-20200 with Grade pay of Rs. 1900 + admissible allowance.
3. Age Limit: 21 to 28 years as on 01/07/2014: The Age limit is relaxable for applicants
belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe up-to 5 years and for Applicants belonging
to Other Backward Classes up-to 3 years and for Government servants up-to the age
of 35 years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by Government of
India from time to time.
4. (a) Probation period:- 2 years
5. Educational Qualification :
a) Middle Standard Pass (8th

b) Possession of a valid driving licence for light and heavy motor vehicles. Photo copy
of the licence duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should be enclosed. Otherwise the
application will be rejected.
c) At least 4 years driving experience of light and heavy motor vehicles, provided that the be
in possession of valid driving license to that effect. The period of experience in light and
Heavy vehicles should be clearly indicated like ‘Light vehicle experience from
………….(date) to………….(date)’ and heavy vehicle experience from ………..(date) to
……………….(date) Latest experience certificate issued by a Gazetted Officer of a
Central/State government Office where the applicant has been working or by the Head of a
Registered Firm/Company/Agency/Institution should be enclosed. The driving Experience
Certificate should have been issued prior to three months of this notification. Photocopies of
Driving Experience Certificates duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should be enclosed. The
period of experience mentioned in the experience certificate should be within the period of
validity of the Driving Licence. Otherwise the application will be rejected.
d)Ability to read and write local languages and to make simple arithmetical calculations.
6. Disqualification:-
a) A person who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a
spouse living or
b) Who having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any
person will not be eligible for appointment to the said post.
Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is
permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and the other party to
the marriage and there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the
operation of this rule.
7. Pattern and Syllabus for the Examination is as under:
A. Literacy Test
B. Driving Test( Trade Test)
I. The candidates will be subjected to a Literacy Test of the level of 8
th
Class covering the
following subjects/topics.
(i) One paper consisting of Part-A (Arithmetic ) and Part –B (Kannada writing)
(ii) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Objective - of 1 Mark each
(iii) Duration of Examination : Written Test-90 Minutes
(iv) Part C-Kannada Reading Test-on completion of written test till the test is
completed for all the candidates.
II. Qualifying Marks in the Literacy test: The minimum qualifying marks in each part
are as follows.

IV. Short listing of candidates for Driving Test (Trade Test): Those who qualify
in the above Literacy Test will be called for the Driving Test on 1:5 basis as per
the total number of vacancies in each category i.e UR, SC, ST, OBC. The
applicant will be declared qualified in descending order of merit on the marks
secured by them in the Literacy Test for taking the Driving Test (Trade Test). The
date and venue of the test will be intimated to the short listed candidates . No
intimation will be sent in respect of other applicants those who do not short
listed.
V. The Maximum/Minimum marks in respect of Driving Test(Trade Test) are
fixed as follows:
Total Marks for Driving Test is 60
Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR-24, OBC-22 and SC/ST-20
